LECTURE

Week 12
This week, we were focused on Double Exposure and Imaging Blending Mode.

Double Exposure Photography

Double exposure photography refers to merging multiple images. The goal is to make them surreal, emotional, or humorous. They usually feature silhouettes.

Double exposure effect may look complicated at first. But it’s easy to make in-camera and in Adobe Photoshop. You don’t need a double exposure camera, as there are a few other ways you can create them.

1. Using the Tilt-Shift Effect

Photoshop has a great tilt-shift tool that will transform your photos into soft works of art.
If you want to be extra creative, blur one of your photos instead of the entire imageOr blur everything except for one important detail.
To add this feature, go to Filter > Blur Gallery > Tilt-Shift.

2. Create fake reflection

One of the way to create reflections is creating double-exposure with the help of separate window photo. This will help to add interesting textures to multiple exposure photography.

3. Experiment with simple portraits and details textured

Combining something plain with something complicated will give a balanced result. It will also save a lot of simple photos that you might discard.

4. Convert your result to Black & White

A lack of colour will strengthen the emotions in your double-exposureimages. If you want to express your work in a vulnerable way, experiment with this.
It gives them a unique depth and allows you to experiment with something interesting just like film photography.

5. Work with silhouette
If we worked with silhouette only, it would give you a fun and doable challenge. And an opportunity to show very creative ties of yourself.

6. Pick two random photo

A lot of double exposure photography were happy accidents. But they led to great feedback and even greater creative growth. Try and forget about any other double-exposure ideas. Shoot interesting textures, shapes and forms instead.

7. Make simple objects look fascinating

Try to make the photo you took look like something interesting.A silhouette of a dull-looking building could become the outline of a starry sky. This technique will enhance your imagination.

8. Use Shadow

Outlines of any kind are fantastic to work with for double-exposure photography. Shadows are as effective as silhouettes in this genre. They're fascinating to work with.
PHOTOSHOP: Blend Modes
Working with blend modes is almost always an experimental process. Because it's nearly impossible to predict the results, you always seem to end up experimenting with different modes and Fill Opacities until you get the results you're looking for.

PRACTICAL

Week 12
After having my sketches of my idea, I start doing the digital poster based on my sketches.
I started preparing the photo of elements that I need. Shooting time: 12pm.

Just like how Mr.Fauzi taught us, I started the poster from cutting out the picture and then arrange them into the composition that I want.

Before the colour editing, I just put some layers to let the picture feel more harmony with the background (music player). And then I found that I need to do some colour adjustment to make it warmer. Instead of just putting the flowers and leaves, I'm also added the shadow by using brush tool.

After the consultation with Mr.Fauzi, he said I can proceed to the animation part with my poster, and then I choose Poster #1 as my final poster.

TITLE
Little Bright Things

ARTIST STATEMENT

Having a good time with a good song is helpful for our mind. Every song has its special part, just like us. Every individual has a different life, we are writing our song of life every second.

The concept about this work is when we are facing failure or feeling unfortunate, we should calm down and focus to those little bright things that make us feel happy. What make you happy? We should ask ourselves. Sometimes we may feel happy it was just because of something happened in our daily life.

In this work, I used a clean and bright colour to bring out the calm and peace feeling. The song are playing is “Little Bright Things”, which represent that we should listen to the things that lights up our life. When we are down, our mind may be black and white, those colourful plants are also represent the little bright things in our life.

Week 13
Once I have my final poster, I continued with the animation part of the poster by using Adobe After Effect.
I wanted to have the effects like once you listen the music calmly, your mind will become more positive and the flowers and leaves in your mind will start blooming.

Week 14
During the consultation with Mr.Fauzi, I show him the music which I wanted to use. I got the approval from him and he said I shall proceed with that. So, I added the music as my background music in Adobe Premier Pro.
