Digital Photography and Imaging - Week 7

   Week 7 - 4th October 2021

LECTURE

In this class, we were focused on COLOUR THEORY. We learned about the difference of RGB and CMYK.
  • RGB: Additive colour mixing model; colour is created by mixing red, green and blue light sources of various intensities.
  • CMYK: Subtractive colour mixing model; colour is created by the subtractive of light (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black)
Hue, shade, tint and tone:
  1. Hue: The most basic of colour terms and denotes an object's colour.
  2. Shade: A hue to which black has been added. (Red+Black=Burgundy)
  3. Tint: A hue which white has been added. (Red+White=Pink)
  4. Tone: A colour to which black and white (or grey) have been added.

It is hard to make a mistake and create the distasteful colour  scheme.

Analogous
Which are 3 colours located right next to each other on the colour wheel.

Complementary
Which are the colours that located opposites to each other on the colour wheel.

Split-Complementary
Which involves the use of three colours. Start with one colour, find its complement and then use the two colours on either side on it.

Triadic
Which are evenly spaced around the colour wheel and tend to be very bright and dynamic.

Besides, we also learned about The Psychology of Colour. Such as, warm and cool colours, black and white. Colours have an extraordinary ability to provoke specific emotions for each individual and to attract people's attention and harmony simultaneously.

LECTURE

During this section, follow the exercises of last week, we dive deeper into recolouring. We have to use provided colour to recolour black and white photo. Same as before, we have to watched a demo video before start working on it.

    POSTER PROGRESSION

After receiving the feedback from Mr.Fauzi, he suggested me to create few poster with different poses and make it looks like a series of poster.
So I digitise the sketches with some harmony colours.
