Design Principle:
Harmony - It involves the elements that share a common trait and it becomes
monotony without variety. It is the sense that all the design elements are
fit together, they may fit to the same theme, aesthetic style or mood.

Symbol - Under figurative representations, graphic symbols can be categorised
by pictorial symbols, abstract symbols, arbitrary symbols.
Pictorial Symbols : Image-related and
simplified pictures.
Abstract Symbols : Represent but have less details.
Arbitrary Symbols : No resemblance to the objects or the ideas they represent. The symbol
is invented with the meaning constructed.
Word and Image - It is important to use suitable
and relevant image and the right words to pair with the imagery.
Suitable typeface and strategic positioning of the type will result in
visual hierarchy and balance in a work of design.

Exploration :
After getting more understanding of these design principle from lecture
and some visual research I start do some sketches.
Symbol
I want to create a symbol of sushi which is a pictorial symbol. I think
that it will be quite interesting if there is a pair of
chopstick holding the sushi. I am inspired by a few design which
are a set of symbol of food.

Harmony
At first, I have no idea about what to do, so I start with searching some
harmony colours. I'm doing research on colours by using Adobe Colours,
there many different types of colours wheel, so I decided to use either
complementary colours or double split complimentary colours. So after
having the outline of the colour, I make some changes on it.

I think my first attempt (Fig 1.21) looks a bit different with I want to create, so I replaced it with a little house.

Word and Image
I found this design principle is quite special since it is different
from the other principle, it consists the use of image and word. So I
decided to use my own photo (taken by me) to create some work.

Feedback:
After having a consultation with Ms.JinChi, I do some changes on the words in the image by using a typeface which is more softer and smoother, and put the words closer to each other.

Reflection:
I found this exercise really interesting, I'm able to play around with the colours, shapes and also fonts. I choose the second design for the word and image is because I found it is really important to give a white space which give audience a space to breath. After trying the suggestion which given by Ms.JinChi, I learned that even it is just a small and tiny changes, the feeling will be totally different and feel more completed.
